During your pregnancy, the abdominal muscles will undergo significant stretching. This stretching in all directions occurs under the influence of a hormone called Relaxin. This stretching of your tummy muscles will mean that doing sit-ups will overstretch the abdomen leading to damage to the centre band between the muscles. It is therefore critically important to do the correct exercises to maintain tummy muscle tone which will help to support the back. The FitBack & Bumps antenatal exercise classes will teach you these safe and effective exercises aimed at the core muscles of the back and pelvis.
FitBack & Bump classes are unique - they are lead by Chartered Physiotherapists. Within each class, they lead a 15-minute discussion on different aspects of exercise in pregnancy giving you the knowledge to adapt or design a fitness programme specifically for your pregnancy with the exercises themselves being specifically designed to support the changes to your body. Each exercise works with your body and will enable you to look after yourself throughout pregnancy.
